Mezzo-soprano Cabiria Jacobsen is a Resident Artist at Tri-Cities Opera in Binghamton, NY. In the 2009-2010 season, she performed the roles of Cherubino/Le nozze di Figaro, Hansel/Hansel and Gretel, and La Ciesca/Gianni Schicchi. Cabiria also sang the role of Mom/Grandma in the touring Opera-Go-Round production of Little Red Riding Hood, which toured to schools and community arts center throughout the Southern Tier and Finger Lakes regions of New York. In summer 2009 Cabiria was a Studio Artist with Opera New Jersey, where she performed in scenes from Les contes d’Hoffman, Giulio Cesare, The Pajama Game, and West Side Story, as well as in the choruses of The Mikado and Die Entfuhrung aus dem Serail. A graduate of Northwestern University, Cabiria has attended training programs at SongFest, L’Academie Internationale d’Eté de Nice, and the Boston University Tanglewood Institute. She is a co-founder of OperaHub, a chamber opera company in Boston, MA. Growing up in Brooklyn, NY, Cabiria sang with the New York City Opera Children’s Chorus under the direction of Mildred Hohner and Anthony Piccolo. In June 2010 she will return to Opera New Jersey for a second summer, where she will cover the role of Siebel in Gounod’s Faust. In fall 2010 Cabiria will sing the role of Dorabella in Cosi fan tutte at Tri-Cities Opera in Binghamton, NY. |
